Delivery boxes for consumers absent during home delivery

Consumer absence during home deliveries is a problem for which solutions are being developed. 87% of Dutch consumers desire home delivery for their online purchases and logistics providers are looking for solutions. The creation of pick-up points and smaller delivery time windows are not always the best solution.
Delivery box solutions such as the Logixbox, Whiteboxx, packetbutler, ‘Kluis aan huis’, and Elephanttrunk allow for unattended home deliveries. These front door safes are being tested by companies, yet challenges still arise. What happens during a power failure? Are they compatible with mobile technology? Can they be used in apartment buildings? (News Item Paazl, 25 August 2015).
