NL: Images to improve medicine use of functionally illiterates

28 September 2015

On 7 September a new Dutch campaign was launched with the title ‘Could you please explain that?’('Kunt u dat even uitleggen?'). The purpose of the campaign is to stimulate proper medicine use by functionally illiterate people. Patients often have trouble understanding the verbal and written information they receive at the pharmacy. Prescriptions about timing, dosing, and how to use the medicine are therefore often misinterpreted.
24 new images have been developed especially for the target group to explain difficult concepts like “three times a day’ and ‘take on an empty stomach’. There are also images to explain the effect of the medicine (Kassa Consumer news, 7 September 2015).
