NL: EPS included in quality requirements plastic waste

02 February 2015

To ensure the continuity of the recovery and recycling of EPS household packaging waste after 1 January 2015 the parties involved in the Framework Agreement (Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, the packaging industry and the municipalities) agreed to add the DKR standard for EPS to the quality requirements for mono-streams.
This means that, as of 1 January 2015, the quality requirements for household plastic packaging waste are: PET: DKR-328-1, PE: DKR-329, PP: DKR-324, plastic film: DKR-310, EPS: DKR-340 and mixed plastics: DKR 350. At least 45% must consist of mono-streams: PET, PE, PP, films, EPS (News Item Nedvang, 19 December 2014).
