Consumers drive growth and expansion for parcel deliverers

In the next five years, the amount of B2C deliveries will grow. By 2020, B2C deliveries are forecasted to surpass B2B deliveries in terms of parcel volumes in Asia and America. This is due to the consumers’ increased need for convenience and cost reduction. Innovative business models and increased consumer expectations such as the team Amazon – Uber and m-commerce, respectively, will further change the delivery landscape.
Research by Accenture shows that parcel delivery services are investing heavily in expanding capacity and modernizing there infrastructure. For example, DHL invested €750 mln in a parcel processing plant in Hessen, Germany (News Release Accenture, 29 September 2015).
