EU-project ROPAS: ICT in paper packaging

03 February 2015

ROPAS (ROll-to-roll PAper Sensors) is a European research project which has resulted in a technology platform for a wireless sensor device on a paper surface which can be manufactured using high-end and low-cost printing techniques. This enables the creation of smart envelopes, smart labels and security tags.
The ROPAS-results were presented in a range of workshops at the 4th Global Packaging Summit which took place January 26-27th, 2015 in Barcelona and was chaired by NVC-director Michael Nieuwesteeg. Basis of the workshops was a questionnaire, which is used for identifying additional applications and inspiring industry and retail to implement the ROPAS technology.
