“Elder Boomers” in packaging surveyed

30 March 2015

In February 2015, Packaging Digest magazine conducted a survey under US “Elder Boomers” in the field of packaging: professionals aged 60 and more. Most (56%) work in either the food or beverage packaging markets.
The vast majority have been working in packaging for 25+ years (87%). Nearly 60% work for either a brand owner or packaging vendor. Four out of five (81%) report that their colleagues view them mainly as an asset, while a minority, 17%, reports that they are viewed as both an asset and an obstacle. Asked how their company views them, 70% feel that their experience is seen as an advantage, while 28% feel their experience is viewed as a mixed bag of positives and negatives.
