E-commerce: Intelligent warehouse solutions

27 August 2015

The growth of e-commerce induces the need for more streamlined warehousing systems. E-commerce in itself increases item-level picking, which in turn increases the need for both throughput speed and order accuracy. Many warehouses have adapted to this need, supporting multi-channel fulfilment at twice this speed of conventional fulfilment by using smart warehousing solutions.
The implementation of dynamic storage and retrieval systems, compared to static shelving, which only uses 25 to 45% of its storage capacity, can reduce needed floor space by up to 90%. Yet in the world of e-commerce, the increased adaptation to consumers’ omni channel needs and complex demands still has its limitations.
