DK: Draft changes to beverage container deposit regulations

27 August 2015

On July 1, the Danish EPA released draft changes to Order Number 104 of 27/01/2014 and opened a public consultation. The order concerns beverage container deposits and recycling regulations. The revisions would create simpler rules and provide administrative relief.
Among other things, they would clarify that only Dansk Retursystem may authorize primary container deposit markings and issue self-adhesive deposit labels. The revisions also seek to boost regulatory enforcement and include new penalties for violations. Over the past year, Dansk Retursystem has made several announcements about producers and importers not paying their required fees (Recycling Laws International, 27 July 2015).
