The consumer of the future will still visit traditional retailers. This the title of a research report from ABN AMRO that sketches the evolution of the modern consumer. This report sheds light on consumer on- and offline shopping behaviour, and their dispersion over shop and product types. Due to the strong growth of the omni-channel shopping environment, traditional retailers must adapt to their new role.
One can increase the value of a traditional retailer by portraying the correct amounts of efficiency, experience and expertise. Efficiency entails speed and confidence, experience emphasises the consumers’ experience, whilst expertise is achieved though knowledge and specialisation.
