The workshop

This online workshop, consisting of two three-hour live sessions, explains the essentials of flexible plastic packaging. After completion, you can recognise the materials used and the packaging types, carry out analysis and deduce the functions, properties, printing and processing technologies.

The workshop language is business English and the workshop is globally accessible; you can participate from any place you wish (without any travel costs). All you need to attend the sessions are a computer, headset, adequate internet connection and the possibility/permission to connect to the system we use for our online learning modules.
The workshop is provided by a live tutor, located in the NVC studio. Your live tutor will answer all your questions during the sessions or afterwards.

Programme

This e-workshop covers the following subjects:

• Introduction to flexible plastic packaging: functionalities and vulnerabilities, packaging chains, the market (suppliers, producers, converters)
• Types of material: e.g. PP, PE, PA, PET, Cellophane and Aluminium
• Processing technologies: including printing, lamination, cutting, perforation
• Types of packaging: including flowpack, deep draw, lidding, transwrap, Stand Up Pouch (SUP)
• Applications: e.g. films, labels, sleeves
• Plastics recycling

The e-workshop provides adequate opportunities to put theory into practice through several online exercises in e.g. analysis of materials, printing techniques, processing technologies, packaging and packaging design.
