PERPETUA ALTA by Constantia Flexibles

The High Chemical Resistant mono-PP laminate

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has established a strict and phased roadmap to reduce packaging waste by 15% by 2040.

By 2030 all packaging must be recyclable by design and PERPETUA ALTA is the first PP mono-material laminate certified as grade B and having the corresponding “Letter of Compatibility” awarded by RecyClass.

According to the manufacturer, PERPETUA ALTA is the one and only High Chemical Resistant (HCR) mono PP laminate for flexible packaging applications. With excellent barrier properties against oxygen, water vapor and light, it offers a better environmental profile than today’s conventional multi-material solutions, not only due to its proven recyclability, but also showing a global warming potential (GWP) reduction from 42 - 62%* when compared to current HCR multi-material solutions depending on the considered scenarios and EoL (End of Life).**

Its patented manufacturing technology together with a careful raw material selection provides PERPETUA ALTA with an unprecedented high chemical resistance making it the perfect fit for aggressive filling goods (including liquids, pastes and gels).

Developed by the Pharma Division at Constantia Flexibles, PERPETUA ALTA can be shaped into the most common pharmaceutical formats like sachets, sticks and flow packs, using the already existing packaging lines, making it a suitable as a more sustainable drop in solution already fitting future regulations.

* Reduction expressed as a percentage of reduction, based on carbon footprint values calculated in kg CO₂e/1,000 m².

**” Incinerated” = EoL: incineration of the whole packaging. In cradle-to-gate cases, also incineration was the modelled scenario for HCR multi-material for production waste, whereas recycling was the considered scenario for PERPETUA ALTA.
