Finalist De Gouden Noot 33rd edition EcoCoolBox
EcoCoolBox by Thermologistics Group
Packaging innovation enabled by automation
Thermologistics Group has developed the EcoCoolBox, a fully circular insulated packaging solution for temperature-sensitive products such as pharmaceuticals, life science samples, vaccines, and perishable foods. The packaging is made entirely from recycled and fully recyclable paper-based materials. It provides the thermal performance required for cold chain logistics while offering a sustainable alternative to expanded polystyrene (EPS), which meanly ends up in landfill. The EcoCoolBox helps companies to reduce the need for plastic based insulated packaging without compromising product protection or performance.
What makes this innovation unique is the combination of product innovation and production automation. Thermologistics Group developed not only the packaging, but also a fully automated, robotized modular production platform. This enables standardized local production anywhere in the world. It solves one of the biggest challenges in sustainable packaging: scaling production efficiently. Local manufacturing also reduces the transport of bulky empty packaging, lowering costs and CO₂ emissions. Together, the packaging and production platform create a scalable and circular solution that can replace EPS on an industrial scale.
