Crowdfunding for packaging innovation (concluded)

The use of alternative financing to drive innovation and support companies (of all sizes) is widespread. Throughout Europe, already hundreds of thousands of companies in all thinkable sectors have used crowdfunding as means to (co)finance their businesses. In 2014, the daily amount of launched crowdfunding projects grew to 442, raising over €50,000 per day. Crowdfunding and other alternative financing methods offer great opportunities within the activity of packaging as well, both raising finance for innovative start-ups and driving financial investments for innovative packaging ideas.

The NVC project Crowdfunding for Packaging Innovation CFPIN aims to facilitate these steps by creating a European alternative finance business community in packaging and by supporting platforms that encourage crowdfunding for packaging innovation. Launching partner is Geldvoorelkaar.nl, the largest crowdfunding platform in the Netherlands, accounting for more than €62 million in investments.

The CFPIN project commenced June, 2015 and will end May, 2017. Within this time period, we strive to support the acceleration of packaging innovations through alternative financing and to reach an estimated cumulative funding of €30 million.

The second CFPIN project activity took place in Eindhoven in the Evoluon Centre during the General Meeting of Members on 24 November 2016.

The project was completed on 1 June 2017, after the interpack2017 (4-10 May 2017).
