The Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD) has been in force in Europe since December 1994, and a new European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is in the pipeline. Governments and industry are struggling with the question, how to effectively enforce the various requirements included in the legislation.
In this meeting, held together with representatives of the Inspectorate ILT (the government agency responsible for the enforcement of the environmental packaging legislation in The Netherlands), we will map out the current and future legislation. In doing so, we will try to determine together, what future enforcement should look like. How do we all achieve the desired environmental goals with the right enforcement level and the right incentives for sustainable innovation when it comes to packaging?
