The LCA Center is an independent research institute focused on all aspects of packaging technology, working for governments, NGO, academic and commercial customers. The LCA Center offers the following services:
1. Packaging Forensics? - is our packaging materials analysis, reverse engineering and functionality testing service. We have a comprehensive range of materials analysis instrumentation such as XRF, Raman, FTIR, DSC, etc. In the analysis team we have PhD material scientists to provide accurate materials analysis and packaging technologists to provide comprehensive and understandable interpretation. This service provides support for plastics identification as regards the EU SUPD; materials analysis in conformity assessment for the EU PPWR; support as regards material composition claims; and support in understanding which eco-modulated charges your packaging is subject to.
2. Forensic LCA? - Life cycle assessment (LCA) of packaging can be misleading if the pack?s material composition is unknown or incorrectly assumed. By using our Packaging Forensics? approach, we are able to make robust LCA studies of packaging, avoiding the infamous ?Garbage in ? Garbage out? issue. We provide quickscan LCA studies for internal use, through to full peer reviewed LCA to support environmental claims.
3. Forward Regulatory Insight (FRI) ? due to the ever-increasing regulatory pressure from the EU, and in support of our other services, we have developed an FRI service. This is based on our network of NGOs, lobbyists, policy makers and consultants to the policy makers in the EU ?Brussels Bubble?. We have two full time staff following all packaging regulatory developments and tracking timelines. The major topic packaging regulations covered include packaging circularity, environmental claims, chemical safety, packaging-specific due diligence, etc.
4. Packaging Technical Consultancy ? in support of quality, trouble shooting and other technical issues as well as support related to packaging innovation.
