Over the past several years, global manufacturers have had to adapt to remain competitive within a volatile and fast-moving economic environment. Today, with the global economy stabilizing, the emphasis on caution is shifting more towards a focus on opportunity. In this report, written on behalf of KPMG, the researchers find global manufacturers generally optimistic about the future, and taking steps to capitalize on potential opportunities. Companies are adopting a number of strategies to stay ahead of the curve, including a deeper emphasis on collaboration with partners and suppliers in the search for new ideas. This report is based on a survey of 335 senior executives, conducted in November 2012. Executives represented 5 industries: Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, Conglomerates, Engineering and Industrial Products, and Metals.
