France unveils strategy to reduce exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals

06 June 2014

On April 29, 2014, the French Ministry of Ecology, Durable Development and Energy released a 24-page national strategy to address negative environmental and human health consequences from exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs).
The French strategy focuses on four areas of activity: supporting research on evaluating EDCs and their effects, conducting scientific investigations of at least eight EDCs per year, working with industry and implementing regulations to facilitate substitutions of safer alternative chemicals, educating consumers about EDC risk issues, pressing for community (EU-wide) EDC information release (Recycling Laws International, 1 May 2014).
