EC proposes e-labelling to meet traceability requirements as one of the actions to create a more business friendly Europe

26 February 2014

The European Commission is urging Member States to recognise the central importance of industry for creating jobs and growth. In this regard the communication For a European Industrial Renaissance was adopted.
The Communication promotes a more business friendly Europe through actions to simplify the legislative framework. One of the proposals is to give businesses greater flexibility on meeting traceability requirements in order to promote greater use of e-labelling. This would help to alleviate the major concerns regarding current traceability requirements to provide full addressee information. E-labelling provides a viable alternative route (Press Release EC, 22 January 2014).
