Czech Republic approves national waste prevention plan

26 November 2014

On October 27, the Government of the Czech Republic approved a national waste prevention plan that covers 2014-2020 and focuses on reducing six waste streams; products covered by existing EU take back directives (packaging, electronics, batteries and end-of-life vehicles).
The primary or overall goal of the plan is simply to reduce consumption and waste generation, the plan lists a number of sub or supporting goals and a set of indicators to gauge success in their implementation. To help achieve the plan’s goals, the Czech Government will launch new websites including one that features general waste reduction recommendations for consumers (Recycling Laws International, 31 October 2014).
