BIOBOTTLE project results: Packaging for dairy products

20 September 2016

The project BIOBOTTLE has been completed. The research has made it possible to develop new biopolymers from which new bottles, bags and caps can be manufactured that are resistant to sterilization and pasteurization, therefore, they can contain dairy products, such as fresh milk and yoghurts with probiotics.
The aim of the project was achieving that the new packages complied with the mechanical and thermal aspects required for these applications, as well as passing the microbiological tests without affecting the product’s organoleptic properties. The results are monolayer bottles and caps and multilayer bags able that resist temperatures up to 95ºC (Press Release AIMPLAS, 19 July 2016).
