Packaging and packaging machinery markets
According to Cepi, EU paper and board consumption decreased by 3.5% and production decreased by 6.1% in 2022 compared to 2021. More statistics can be found here (2.86 MB).
Preliminary figures (2.69 MB) presented by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), show that almost 72,000 industrial robots were installed in the EU in 2022, an increase of 6% compared to 2021.

Packaging design

Consumers and sustainability
Research by McKinsey shows that consumers around the world have different opinions on what type of packaging is most sustainable.
Researchers at the University of Florence studied how food consumers relatively value plastic packaging alternatives, namely the unpackaged option and bioplastic packaging. The study (1.003 kB) is published in Environmental and Resource Economics.

Prices for plastics
Dutch trade magazine Vraag en Aanbod publishes a weekly overview of the prices for plastics (in Dutch). The prices given are estimated averages between the gross prices published in the trade journals and the net prices.
