AU white papers - sustainable design and soft plastics

25 April 2017

The Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) has produced two white papers that explore the barriers to packaging sustainability and opportunities to innovate and influence.
The sustainable design paper includes recommendations to implement common metrics for the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines (SPGs), evidence-based disposal labelling, encouraged recycled content use, and a facilitation of cross-sectorial collaboration. The soft plastics paper includes recommendations to foster and develop end-markets to increase the value of recovered soft plastics and the standardisation of recovery options across material recovery facilities to enable kerbside disposal (News Item APC, 31 March 2017).
